Announcing Our New Partnership with Connections for the Homeless

We are partnering with Connections for the Homeless to execute and deliver Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) funds through the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) Homeless Prevention Program. While all ERA dollars for eligible applicants will be paid directly to the vendor, our organizations will help make the application process smoother for everyone. Our partnership runs from July 2021 – June 2-22.

As part of the partnership, we will handle case management services. This includes assisting with eligibility screenings and working with households to collect and submit necessary documents. We will also provide support before and after receiving funds through a wholistic wrap-around housing counseling approach.

As two Evanston-based organizations that serve Cook County, both Open Communities and Connections for the Homeless are essential in preventing homelessness and helping families keep stable housing. This is our newest “official” partnership, but we have referred clients back and forth for some time. This partnership is a great way to meet the community need for housing stability through eviction prevention and follow up housing counseling support
